1. Overview
AirGap is a focus and phone-locking app designed to help you stay on task by blocking selected apps during focus sessions. The app uses Android permissions and system services to enforce locks, track session state, support optional accountability features, and offer location-triggered locks.
We try to keep the design simple: data that must be processed for a feature to work is processed locally when possible, and we avoid building ad-tech style tracking into the app.
2. Data We Collect
AirGap may process the following categories of data, depending on which features you enable:
If you use the OTP or accountability flow, the app may process phone numbers, message contents needed to generate or verify unlock codes, and related session metadata. This information is used only to support the unlock flow you initiated.
If you enable geofenced zones, AirGap may process your device location, including background location when permitted, so it can trigger a lock when you enter or leave a configured zone.
The app can read usage access data to show app-blocking status, focus metrics, and session behavior. That data is used for the core experience and is not intended for advertising profiling.
If you start a purchase or restore flow, billing information is handled by Google Play and RevenueCat. AirGap may receive subscription status, entitlement state, and purchase result details so it can unlock Pro features.
Information stored on your device
- Focus session state, lock timers, and local settings.
- Whitelist selections and app-blocking preferences.
- Billing corridor and entitlement cache needed for purchase state.
- Analytics or session history used by the app to render your charts and summaries.
3. How We Use Data
We use data only to make the app work and to improve the experience you asked for.
- Enforce focus sessions and app blocking.
- Verify accountability unlock requests and OTP delivery.
- Trigger location-based locks when configured zones are entered or exited.
- Show usage charts, session summaries, and device lock state.
- Restore purchases and determine whether Pro features are available.
- Maintain security and prevent accidental bypass of active sessions.
5. Storage & Retention
AirGap stores most session and preference data locally on the device. Some billing or entitlement state may be cached locally so the app can recover after reboot or intermittent connectivity.
- Local settings remain on the device unless you clear app data or uninstall.
- Purchase and entitlement state may be refreshed from RevenueCat or Google Play when the app launches.
- Logs are intended for debugging and security troubleshooting, not for ad tracking.
6. Your Choices
You control the major data pathways through Android permissions and in-app settings:
- Disable location access to stop location-based locks.
- Do not grant SMS or accountability permissions if you do not want OTP features.
- Revoke usage access or accessibility permissions to disable blocking and metrics features.
- Manage subscriptions through Google Play if you purchase Pro.
- Uninstall the app or clear its storage to remove locally stored data.
7. Children
AirGap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app, contact us so we can review it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy if the app changes or if legal requirements change. When we do, we will replace this page with a new version and update the effective date above.
